Practical beta tester guide.

Use this guide before enabling gesture control. IQPalm is experimental and should only be tested in safe desktop areas.

Installation

  • Use the Windows Portable ZIP from the download page.
  • Extract the ZIP before launching the app.
  • Do not run unofficial installers; the installer is still pending.
  • Download IQPalm only from the official portal.

First launch

  • Start with gesture control disabled.
  • Start the camera and confirm preview is visible.
  • Grant Windows camera permission if prompted.
  • Use a low-risk desktop area before enabling control.

Calibration

  • Calibrate in the same lighting and camera position you plan to use.
  • Capture open palm, fist, pinch, index finger, and two-finger samples carefully.
  • Reset calibration if gestures feel unstable.
  • Avoid changing hand distance immediately after calibration.

Gesture guide

  • Index finger up moves the cursor when control is enabled.
  • Pinch performs a left click with cooldown protection.
  • Two fingers trigger scroll behavior.
  • Fist pauses control; palm hold triggers emergency stop.

Safety controls

  • The app starts disabled by default.
  • No mouse or click actions run while disabled or paused.
  • Open palm resumes only from paused state.
  • Emergency stop requires manual reset before control can return.

Troubleshooting camera problems

  • Close other apps that may be using the webcam.
  • Check Windows camera privacy permission.
  • Try a brighter, evenly lit location.
  • Restart the app if the camera preview freezes.

Diagnostics export

  • Diagnostics are manual; nothing is uploaded automatically.
  • Do not include private screenshots, videos, files, or camera images.
  • Use diagnostics only when support asks for a safe reproduction.
  • Review exported text before sharing it.

Reset settings

  • Reset calibration if pinch, fist, or palm detection feels wrong.
  • Return thresholds to defaults before a new test session.
  • Keep gesture control disabled while testing new settings.
  • Report repeated false gestures from the support page.

Uninstall

  • Close IQPalm before removing files.
  • Delete the extracted portable beta folder.
  • Remove local settings only if you no longer need calibration data.
  • Do not delete unrelated files or application folders.
